Everyone says they have the best dog in the world, and they’re right. Especially in my case. He was diagnosed with bone cancer a few weeks ago and doesn’t have much time. I am absolutely crushed but am rallying for him because he is such an empath he knows I’m upset.

honestly, if you ignore everything else I say about quantum computing, just read this bit, I am *so proud* of this stupid metaphor 😎
topological qubits use superconductors that make a topological phase of matter that hides quantum state so they also have the even/odd electron thing but it's stuffed in a locker so the teacher can't look out in the hall to see it until the class bell rings and the computation is finished

Re-reading this 2020 book by @swordsjew.bsky.social and finding it just as timely as it was the day it came out. Which is depressing tbh, but if we don't understand what we're up against, we can't fight it. And that's why this book is essential. (it's also wonderfully written)
