As a form of “stretching” while I gear up to write my first book on better city-making next year, I’m also getting back into writing articles for a new publication. I have a number of topics/subjects in mind, but I’m open to recommendations/requests on timely, pressing topics. What do you think?

Good to see more services on tram routes 86 & 96, including more Saturday evening services to cut waiting times and crowding.
We hope to see Sunday night 30 min waits also fixed, and on-road priority to speed up trams, but this is a good start.

There’s nothing like visiting aging relatives to make you appreciate how a car-dependent society increasingly becomes a prison as people become too old to get behind the wheel. We must take steps to make it easier for the elderly (and everyone else) to live in walkable communities.

Running #Melbourne's Metro trains more like an actual metro, with frequent services all day every day, would bring huge benefits. Fixing the 30, 40, 60 minute gaps should be a priority.

I’m promising myself this is my last book tour. (Of course, I made the same promise with the last book.)

Hope to see you there.

Canada has higher transit use than the US because there is far more transit service per capita there.

If you want ridership, you have to run service.
Canada has dramatically higher transit modeshare than the US is something people clearly need to hear much more often.

What kinds of taxes and user fees can #Australian #municipalities levy/collect? I understand Australian states largely just collect stamp duty while the federal Commonwealth government collects income and sales #tax and transfers some to the states.
