Calmer streets are where this design really shines, here as a shoulder that can also serve pedestrians. That’s a money saver when you can’t get a sidewalk in. But I wanna look at other issues like safety over time.

The NE 43rd Ave between NE Tillamook St and NE Sandy Blvd was full of more cars than bikes, but I could still negotiate space through the bike lane.‘Negotiate’ is key, as the main aspect of this infrastructure is the middle lane is flexible for vehicles going either direction.
