I'm a Dem, but literally no Employee in this income range can get healthcare this cheap (2025 premium). What are we doing Dems?
After a breast cancer diagnosis in 2024, Cyndi relied on her Connect for Health plan for the life-saving treatments and therapies she needed.

Now she's in remission & facing the impossible choice of skipping her annual appointments or paying $1200 more/ month for coverage she can't afford.

Just Damning. How can we not hold social media companies for this forced thought conspiracy spiral?
We need to talk about how social media algorithms push moms down a slippery slope of distrust.

From "Are my kids getting enough support in school?" To "Maybe I should homeschool." To "Maybe modern medicine is bad."

I've seen this first-hand in research I'm doing on parenting apps. 1/🧵

Seriously, we need a law that a President is not able to have any active lawsuits while in Office. Everyone is simply rolling over rather than standing up for what is right because of the power he has
September 30, 2025 at 3:49 PM
Not seen much reporting on this, but thankfully Dems have somewhat come to their senses on these one sided 'fair map' laws. Lots of states need to repeal them and maybe add some type of condition that they go back into affect once all states pass them.

Bets that Maher will assign this to the Dem party if he has a show this week?
“Weirdos on the internet had a stupid take on something. Bad faith assholes disingenuously assigned that stupid take to the Democratic Party. Because I am the political equivalent of the kind of people who respond to Nigerian Prince scams I accepted that frame and agreed with it. Derp derp Derp.”

As I think of the damage Musk has done to Twitter and Bezos has done to WaPo, it's hard to think the damage to WaPo will not end up being more substantial over time.
Wow.

I can now count on four fingers the "real" WaPo writers who are still there. (Vs dozens who have bailed.)

Jeff Bezos is now in competition with the odious Musk for greatest damage in shortest time.

Difference: Bezos didn't destroy his day-job biz empire at the same time.
The New York Times is hiring longtime WaPo media critic Erik Wemple, I'm told.

Seriously can't believe how many people and media companies are helping Musk rehabilitate his image, with billions of free publicity, in an effort to save Tesla.
June 5, 2025 at 7:04 PM
Watching the media give Musk the publicity he wants trying to distance himself from the damage he's caused is just embarrassing. All it took was some fake criticism of Trump.

Do wonder how much tax revenue is going to be up next year from so many people trimming out of their gains this year. How much of that will be attributed to, "See tax cuts pay for themselves" next year.

Have seen several people I grew up with in rural South Dakota posting about how good Bitcoin has been for them. When the ponzi scheme crashes, like they all do, will it make the rural/urban divide even greater? Will Dems avoid being blamed for it?

One question I keep having is how many people a year are prosecuted for lying on ATF form 4473 strictly about drug use?

Have looked for hours and yet to find stories about that. I see lots involving lying about prior felonies, but not a one about only drug use.

Here is a gift link to the article. Bennet really highlighted how the media is enabling Republicans here. @bennet.senate.gov should have a fun conversation. 😀

Normally enjoy James Bennet's Lexington articles at @economist.com , and even this one I agreed with 80% of it. But I think he really showed the same blind spot we see in so much of the media by equivocating between Hunter pardon and the Jan 6 pardons. Blaming Dems for GoP weaponizing of DOJ.

Coldest inauguration forecast since Reagan’s in 1985 forces Trump’s indoors
The Inauguration Day forecast calls for bitter cold and high winds. It is expected to be D.C.’s coldest inauguration in 40 years.

Have to admit the funniest part of the Trump fever dream about Canada joining the US is that the 40 million people would be one state. They understand the problem of adding 8 median population (4.5m) states to the mix that expect govt healthcare.

Have been catching up on one of my favorite podcasts 'You are Not so Smart' #YANSS with @davidmcraney.bsky.social lately, but adding a new nonfiction book to read every other episode is becoming a bit overwhelming. 😀

Just hear me out... But maybe www.rottentomatoes.com should consider adding something so that propaganda films don't end up in their Verified Hot list. Especially given that the creator has retracted big portions of the evidence provided due to pending defamation lawsuits.

Bsky is going to have to get the bot situation under control sooner rather than later. Not as bad as Xitter yet, but seems like it will get there quickly.

My @washingtonpost.com subscription is coming up in a couple of months and am planning to cancel. My main reason is just their unwillingness to treat the parties similarly in their news coverage. One recent example:

When I would talk with people who thought the 2020 election was stolen. The one...

It is pretty amazing how fast the economy turned around. Given how many articles the
@washingtonpost.com
did on feelings about the economy before the election, will we get as many about why the GoP lying about the economy will make polling rebound super fast?

I'd pay money to hear Trump try to give this speech. He can even practice for a month. Unlike Trump, when Biden misspeaks he understands he made a mistake and corrects it like a person with reading comprehension.
