Not sure how I feel about that at all. I think I’m somewhere in between “what can you do when so many things go wrong?” and “could have been different if we hadn’t bought so many defenders on as substitutes”. Still, up the Chels! #CFC

Find it absolutely incredible how much negativity some people are able to generate about a team that have made it to March before losing their first game of the season, even when defeat doesn’t yet knock them out of any competition. #cfcw

Over the last few years a feeling has crept on me that this is just who Chelsea are. We are a fairly big club that flatters to deceive and underachieves. The Abramovich era was an exception, obviously, but that is what we’ve been for most of our history, and maybe we’re just back to that.

I worry a bit that recalling Chalobah blocks Acheampong’s pathway. He seems to have an opportunity now and is perhaps the better long-term option. Highlights a wider issue as well about how you can’t incorporate all your youth products, but that’s probably for another day!

Obviously a massively disappointing result and a missed chance for some squad players, but that wasn’t a game we deserved to lose, with marginal decisions, woodwork, goal-line clearances working against us. Let’s stay with the boys. Most of us would have taken 4th at this stage.

I get that the bench was light today but gotta make use of the bench. Last 3 games have seen us struggle in the last half hour. Maybe hanging on in the last couple of games papered over those cracks a bit, so hopefully they pay attention now.

I actually quite enjoyed the new group stage format. You get to play more teams and I think it feels like there are more live issues to be decided late in the group stage, even if we were through comfortably. Also thought Acheampong looked nice and comfortable tonight.
