Happy Belated to one of the best to ever do it… Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. aka Mac aka Dr. John. Doc was a guitar player before a gunshot wound to his left hand changed the course of our collective musical history. That injury led him to a career as one of the finest pianists to ever play the keys.

I was out of town for Phish when these cats showed up and played their second show as a band. Apparently they melted some faces with their mix of jamband covers and originals. I’m all kinds of excited to see these young bucks play the Hangar 9 tonight.

32 years ago a then 17 year old me saw WSMFP at the Roxy with guest sit ins by T Lavitz, Trey, and Page. I didn’t get accepted to UCLA… but college wasn’t really my thing. This is one of the shows that set in motion my lifetime of chasing bands around the country.

My vintage (1950’s era) daily driver. It’s in rough shape but it has lived in my pocket for close to 30 years with only the occasional refuel, and wick and flint replacement.

So we always had the round logo, I just decided to put it in a stealie. I am acutely aware and fully own that I’m a gen x corn ball running a liquor store in a college town. I sell a stupid amount of t-shirts with this design and booze related lyrics on the back.

What I smoke with my online friends when I see them at a show. Putting a cringe worthy vanity plate with both the Cubs and a Phish reference was the only way to stop my daughter from stealing my shitbox Subaru that I love so much. She was fine with the Lesbian trope but the Phish nod scared her off.

Turns out it was food poisoning not a Covid related digestive issue. So anywho, we’re eating again. It’s shaping up to be a solid little Saturday. Greens are cooking in their delicious pot licker and the Black Eyed Peas are bubbling away…… and then a Lucas and the Cottonmouths show at 7:00.

Lots of chatter about Cory Henry’s sit in with Billy Strings. It was great. Having said that I prefer my Corey Henrys with an e in their name, sporting a Fluer-de-lis traced in gold, and a Black Saints Hat. My man Boe Money is the baddest mother fucking ‘bone in a city oozing with killer brass.

Shortly after Kevin was chosen to be the bass player for Mule he played a string of one off gigs between Jazzfest weekends. I knew Warren had the right dude when I watched Kevin trade melts with Luther Dickinson at 4:00am playing Col. Bruce Covers. Lotta gum chewing going on. RIP Woody. RIP Colonel.

There is another option…. Chickamasa makes amazing snippers, trimmers, pruners, and loppers. I’ve been through every kind of snipper out there over the last 20 years, this is where I landed for finish trimming.

I live in a college town & I own a liquor store. The rules are pretty clear, when people party, tailgate, or celebrate we work. Homecoming - Unofficial Halloween is the weekend of the 25th. So is this if you’d have looked at my calendar before today. Bahaha, I’m going to New Orleans next weekend.
