Works fine as an analog to "was best friends with" if it's the "I was"/plural thing that's bothering you.

Mere days ago I was talking to someone about how great Call Me By Your Name was and had to go into my spiel about how important it is not to ruin everything by reading the sequel.

This came across my feed and it's always surreal when I have cause to remember my Russian phonetics teacher in a dorm cafeteria in Bloomington in the 90s saying "my son is going to be on tv."

I have wondered about this, too. How do people know that someone has lost it when his entire brand is a kind of mean incoherence? Everyone is desensitized to the idea that he may simply be cognitively non functional because being cognitively intact is prissy elistist liberal cuck stuff.

The licensing process for heterosexuality sounds really tricky.

That stupid La Palma thing meets WORDLE. What, that's as close as I get to playing video games.

As a homosexual and a banana fan, I am fascinated to think what the no-homo way of eating a banana is. Do you merely have to chop it up so it's no longer phallic or do you have to go the extra mile, mash it up, and sculpt it to resemble lady parts? That seems time-consuming.

Reason = Winnicott is excellent.

Oy, must be the 2020s version of meeting a gay man in the 90s and saying "so when you have sex, are you the man or the woman?" Yes, now you know something about me. No, that does not make our further conversation an AMA reddit thread.

Lieder/Uchida is a dizzying act of rhyme.

Or "Oktavian Maria Ehrenreich Bonaventura Fernand Hyacinth Rofrano," though it'll let you work in "Favorite fach: mezzo-soprano" for the rhyme.

I'm just going to say Taylor Swift's 1989 and pretend it came out in 1989 because there is not a lot of perfect music from the actual 1980s

This is true, of course, but there's always this point where a statement about what's going on pivots to the things we "let slide" without any information on how not to let it slide. I would love not to let any of this slide, but I'm just a very distraught person.

Oh like in the last two years I think. I was like "why are we talking about music theory suddenly?" Maybe just every time someone says it, sing "aaaaa-men" in a IV-I progression and when they look at you like you're cray, say "it's a plagal cadence, isn't that what we were talking about?"

I generally mildly dislike the show but am nervously hoping my Max subscription expires later than I think it does so I can keep watching Parker Posey's immediately legendary performance. No spoilers but two of her lines made me laugh out loud last night.
