Every now and then you find yourself an outlier. Tonight it's my turn. I sat down to watch what I had been told was one of the worst movies of the year. Instead, I saw a borderline masterpiece. Beautifully shot, wonderfully acted, and hypnotic.

I've been reading the first year of Superman stories from Siegel & Shuster. Biggest surprise? Superman single-handedly destroying a slum so that the 1939 equivalent of FEMA will rebuild it.
