I have a student who referred to a comics creator as a "comicist."

Not sure that I've ever seen that before, but I kinda like it.

Looking forward to hearing Peter Guralnick tonight at Parnassus Books. My son asked to come as well and I’m pretty sure he’s the only one in the room who was born after Jimmy Carter was President.

my statement on Ai from the mini-comic I'm making as syllabus for a new class I'm teaching this fall. It's simple, but I pretty much said all I have to say on it - it robs you of decisions and struggle - and the joy of being surprised. It robs you of learning...

Reading an article in the Times about Peanuts and the writer keeps referring to Charlie Brown as “Charlie.” I can’t stand it.

Saw the FF movie tonight. I liked it. Didn't totally love it, but definitely liked it.

The new documentary has led me to take a deep dive into Billy Joel’s music. It’s not a bad place to be.

I’ve never really listened to Billy Joel’s first album, Cold Spring Harbor, but I put it on repeat tonight and got obsessed. There’s an old saying that you should try to be the person your dog thinks you are. Well, along those lines, I want to be the person I am when I’m lost in an album like that.

Well, that was better than the one with Richard Pryor.

I guess?

This piece of him with Dizzy Gillespie was our main inspiration for our Hawkeye series and, in our minds, it was the opening credits theme for each issue. Thanks for all your great music, Lalo.

I suddenly have ten times more optimism about the next Bond film than I did before.

Senator Alex Padilla of California was removed by force from Kristi Noem’s presser and handcuffed for his free speech. This is what a fascist regime does that rejects the laws of the US. It should horrify every American. Let’s stop pretending we are approaching authoritarian rule. We are there.

I've hit that stage where I type up a social media post, ask myself, "Who really wants to read this?" and then delete it.

(Probably should've done the same to this one.)

For those of you who create digital art, do you prefer an iPad with Apple Pencil or one of the digital pads made specifically for drawing?
