this is where i'll be stopping this thread, i think.
i'll now try to daily drive EndeavourOS and tweak the system and apps to my liking as i go along. hopefully, i don't have to switch back to Windows after all this.
anyways, obligatory fetch screenshot:

a couple hours ago, i tried getting Wallpaper Engine to work on Linux. there's no native Linux build available, so i had to rely on 3rd-party solutions, which either didn't work or didn't give satisfying results. thankfully there are alternatives to it that work on Linux, so i'll give those a shot.

finished downloading pretty much everything i need for now!
i'll stick with Edge as my browser for now, since i already have a Microsoft account to sync my bookmarks and history with, and i don't feel like giving my data to other browsers. (unless Microsoft colossally fucks up, which is possible)

i could maybe use Firefox Sync since that only needs an email address iirc, but with how Mozilla's been kinda falling off recently with their additions to Firefox, i don't feel inclined to use it. maybe i could just stick to Edge for now. open to suggestions but i might be also overthinking this lol

while i did say earlier in the thread that i chose Vivaldi as my new Chromium browser, syncing my data requires i make a Vivaldi account. that wouldn't bother me too much if it also didn't give you all this extra stuff i kinda don't need. maybe it's just me. i just wanna sync my data across devices.

still getting things installed, but so far, things have been smooth. i also got Minecraft working, and it runs pretty damn smoothly, too.
hoping to have everything set up by the weekend so that i can start actually using the laptop. i'm still debating on what internet browser(s) to use.

today, i'm gonna try installing everything else i have from my old laptop so that i can then transfer my data to the new one and start daily driving Linux, hopefully for good. Microsoft has burned me out with their need to put things in Windows that nobody asked for. Linux has showed me promise.

the other browser i'm trying out, LibreWolf, thankfully has those features disabled by default, but it's also very privacy focused, and some settings conflict with AdNauseam, so it'll need some tinkering. there's also WaterFox, which is also privacy focused much like LibreWolf. hmm....
