2:01 AM PDT We have identified a potential root cause for error rates for the DynamoDB APIs in the US-EAST-1 Region. Based on our investigation, the issue appears to be related to DNS resolution of the DynamoDB API endpoint in US-EAST-1. We are working on multiple parallel paths to accelerate recovery. This issue also affects other AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 Region. Global services or features that rely on US-EAST-1 endpoints such as IAM updates and DynamoDB Global tables may also be experiencing issues. During this time, customers may be unable to create or update Support Cases. We recommend customers continue to retry any failed requests. We will continue to provide updates as we have more information to share, or by 2:45 AM.

Here's a picture from August 2004 of a sunset over one of the smaller lakes around Kennisis Lake, Ontario. (Reposted 'cause I put the 2014 in the first attempt.)
A forest across a nearly-still lake at sunset. The clouds and setting sun form almost flame-like oranges and purples at a low spot in the trees. Reflections in the water give an incomplete symmetry, as ripples distort the surface approaching the far shore.

I know that place! Though I think every week is cask ale week.

They're amazing machines! I knew someone whose father worked the Intertype "clones" back in the day. He was able to show us it working at a historic farming equipment show.

Amazing what we used to do with clutches and cams and so on.

Way back in mid-August 2004 I worked late to do a server migration. Stopped off at Nathan Philips Square on the way home; I'd just gotten a new camera and wanted to try it at night.
Against a black night sky, Toronto's City Hall stands illuminated. Office lights are on throughout the building. In the foreground, the fountain is lit from underneath. A few people are seen in silhouette having quiet conversation in the late summer evening.
