I’m so sorry to hear about your daughter’s service. This program was foundational for me 15 years ago. I know the cruelty is the point, but it never ceases to amaze me what new lows DOGE and this administration will sink to.

Yeah, did you even read my post? Married women don’t have their married name on their birth certificates. They’d all need to get passports ($160) to keep voting rights. This is classic voter suppression

You do realize this is going to make it very hard for married women and trans people to vote because they’re requiring that the name match the individual’s birth certificate, right? Passports can meet the requirements, but then that would require them to spend at least $160 to vote.

Why do you think it’s not about safety? It’s pretty well documented that lower speeds help protect pedestrians, and Chicago is a city full of pedestrians. As someone that has known many pedestrians and cyclists that have been injured by distracted and speeding drivers, I welcome this.
