I think I just had a typo (i before e except after c) and bluesky thought it was a link… random.

No! He doesn’t suggest meaninglessness, just to be as open as possible in the moment, without pre-existing/normative explanations, just your perceptions. Kind of a restated stoic thing, in the end, though…

So, ok, point taken about the last 100 years and axioms :)

Marcuse then: thought that accepts reality as a given is no thought at all.

The neo-liberal “left” be like, but how can we continue to boost corporate profits and growth and do nothing about the ecological crisis *for the people*?
November 22, 2024 at 5:16 PM
Same. It seems clear that the Capitalocene ends with #degrowth either by design or disaster.

Then, as a polite suggestion, if I may, perhaps check out some #degrowth research. For more actionable than useless platitudes, as you so rightly take exception to.

Surely, what we can do, at the absolute very least, is critique the never ending tidal wave of bullshit.

You think because Trump was elected in the US that we have to settle for meaningless (i.e. doing less good than their escalating harms) corporate wins? Sorry, we might need to agree to disagree there.
November 21, 2024 at 2:29 PM
Saying that corporations aren’t doing enough isn’t giving up. Quite the opposite. Like, maybe we should stop celebrating capital’s meaningless wins and organize for real change.

The simplest way is to make less of it. Its not just the science of CCS that matters here.
