I just read Mark Bowden's "Hue 1968" (excellent as per all of Bowden's books).
He writes of one USMC NCO who was commando having his pants ripped to shreds during the battle.

Over the last few days I’ve actually been paying attention to some AI business ads that keep cropping up on Netflix.
Combined with this and I am simply appalled.
I guess I should say “appalled anew.”
The sheer brainlessness being hawked under the guise of “efficiency” is … appalling.

A staff member would bring out a few legs of whatever and the crocs would put on a show leaping up for the snacks.

Not military but I've experienced difficult/highly monotonous food situations (including MREs).
I'm laughing as I recall the spontaneous conversations that always broke out about real food at those times.
People going on and on in detail about ham, seafood, baked goods ... you name it. 😂
