I picked a tawny owl bc I’m trying to get more acquainted with the birds where I live :) And I think they look a bit creepy with their black eyes!

I tried a bit of dry brushing with the gouache this time, and I like the effect :)

Yeah 😭 ikea used to have pick and mix, but I think they got rid of it in all stores after 2020 😔 I always bring half a suitcase of Swedish candy when I go back to the States haha

Oh, also! I think the fur was a lot more challenging than my last cat painting. I think it’s easier to represent medium-long hair than short hair, and I don’t feel I was totally successful with this green kitty. 🤔 Something to practice! Does anyone have any tips or references they recommend??

I tend to make very safe color choices, so I want to keep testing surprising colors. I think the green makes him look like a cute lil alien :)

Also, this is one of my first times using gouache. I’m not sure I did it right, but I think I like the texture?
