trump supporters don't think as you do about people and policy. Imagine the mindset of Americans in about 1875 or so. Robber barons were taking over, imperialism was a new idea in the US, Reconstruction was about to officially transition into the Jim Crow era. Know who you're actually dealing with.

When admins change from one party to the next, the exiting party gets their last budget. Then the incoming party gets to blame the former folks if anything goes wrong but take credit if it goes right. trump has already commandeered this process so he's now responsible for anything that goes wrong.

Summation: if democrats want to be an opposition party, then act like it immediately. If dems sit and wait to see, then the beast outruns you from the get-go. So get going.
What I take away from this is less that Murphy is demanding Dems change tack now, but that they be clear-eyed during the actual fight. Also, the observation that the DOGE clownery, absent tyrannical moves like impoundment, will be anything but clownery is really astute.
Important from Sen Chris Murphy: He says Dems are not functioning as an effective opposition to Trump's accelerating authoritarianism right now, and that this is dangerously complacent.

I prefer to call myself a liberal. I do so because I begin my approach to politics and policy as I do in most things: that the concerns of people come first. Business matters. But people come first. Obviously this statement demands expansion, but this is a start...
