Pinball, politics, pigeons, public transit, pedestrianism, pedantry.

Seattle-based. Fun with a purpose.
After waking up at 3am and failing to fall back asleep, I took a walk through the city at 6am, got a coffee, and then sat on my rooftop before work, watching the clouds roll by. It was peaceful.

I am watching my ex’s cats for 24 hours at my place for reasons (long story, just a favor). Martin is doing great — once he remembered me he got lovey and happy. Henry has been under my bed since he got here.

I’m a little worried Martin is gonna get a little too rowdy and make a mess.

Hey Seattle: if you go to this you will eat very well and be happy about it.

Friends, please weigh in on this eternal question: What do you call this part of Seattle? Flanked by Seattle Center to the west, Mercer from the north, 7th Ave N and Highway 99 to the east, and Denny Way to the south.

In my opinion it is neither South Lake Union, Belltown, or Lower Queen Anne.

People may think I’m in the “Here’s a story about an octopus that will make you sad” prime demographic, but I avoid these like the plague, for the very same reason why I don’t leap headfirst into albums from beloved artists when people tell me it’s bleak or it made them cry.

I went a simple route—wandered through my neighborhood for 15 minutes, settled on an exceedingly fancy pastry. Korean garlic croissant, they call it. Absolutely delicious. Now I can justify another similar snack in an hour or so and still spend less than a regular breakfast.

A million people have said and share far more eloquent and moving things about David Lynch than I could.

His book, Catching the Big Fish, is an easy and charming read about creativity and consciousness. Pairs well with Notes on Cinematography by Robert Bresson.

Seattle’s city planning is so much two steps, one step to the side, two steps back, but I am grateful that a block right by my place has transformed exclusively for bike and pedestrian access in the time I’ve lived nearby.

Seattle turned out for the PWHL game today—12,600 people! Went to a shootout. Good times at women’s hockey.
