The look of satisfaction on her face while being arrested by the "brown shirts", aka Tennessee State Troopers for peacefully protesting is priceless! She knows she's doing "getting into good trouble" right.

Here's my latest conversation with a maga from yesterday, with my daddy's best friend of 45 years, Grizz. We haven't talked much since daddy died of covid, because we'd bumped heads on some of our political posts on Facebook in Mango Mussolini's first term.
Maga Family Conversation: Grizz Dumps Trump
Tonight's story is about a conversation I had earlier today with an old friend of my deceased maga daddy, so you know he was maga too.

"This administration wants to burn it all down, and measured responses won’t work as a counter; you can’t wait for your lawyers to go over the text of Trump’s executive orders and for your pollsters to focus-group the optimal response...” @dceiver.bsky.social says it better than I can.
Trump’s Abuse of Power Comes as No Surprise
Somehow, Democrats got badly caught out by the president doing all the things he spent the past two years saying he was going to do if reelected.

As the EOs and orders keep coming, I keep thinking of the exhibit in the Berlin Jewish Museum that displays the 962 anti-Jewish laws and policies in order as they came down. These kinds of drumbeats are designed not just to oppress but to normalize oppression. www.jmberlin.de/en/jmb-journ...

"The purging underway suggests that the agency is not just seeking to eliminate DEI but also to remove people who have expressed interest or participated in programs related to it."

First it's your actions, then it's your intentions, and then it'll be your literal existence in this space. Ugh 😡
Trump’s DEI purge targets federal workers who did not work in DEI
Dozens of federal employees who didn’t work on diversity or inclusion issues have been placed on administrative leave following Trump's executive order.

Welcome newcomers! Alt Text is a big deal here on Bluesky. It helps people with visual issues and in other situations as well. Here's a useful thread on how to do it, including some examples.

Small Gods by Terry Pratchett

Discworld is the warm hug of fantasy - so easy to pick up and get lost in. He’s phenomenal at subliminally using political/moral themes and basically reminding people to be good humans! Picking this one as I believe it’s one of the best 💙📚

Book 3: Worn by Sofi Thanhauser
I don't have the quotes I want to share about this one ready at my fingertips. But it hits hard and is worth a read, and maybe a second just so you don't miss all of the things. Textiles Shape our lives, and our lives are shaped by them.

Book 2: Making Money by Terry Pratchett
Like I said it's a Discworld year.
“Insanity is catching.”
“pondering how illogical logical thinking can be if a big enough committee is doing it.”

First book of 2025: Reread of Small Gods. It's going to be a Discworld kind of year.

“Fear is a strange soil. It grows obedience like corn, which grow in straight lines to make weeding easier. But sometimes it grows the potatoes of defiance, which flourish underground.”

Years ago a coworker explained cycling to work to another coworker this way which was you're rarely going to be as comfortable as you are in a car but it's going to be a lot more fun and I wish we talked more honestly about the trade offs we have to face to keep this planet livable.

I am a climate scientist and this is correct ⬇️
Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.
