Quick intro: I live in Northumberland, UK with Herself. If we’re not here, we’re in Italy (or somewhere in-between). She works in Renewables (Finance and Risk stuff), I work in Technology (Trying to be a good boss). I’m not selling anything, this is just me and what I find interesting.

If you really wanted to do a country scale pump and dump (even reverse), you’d probably want to gut financial regulation first 🤔

It’s a busy day in Rome. Lots of Spanish here, weather or Jubilee?

I heard there was a storm back in the UK. I’m in Rome this week where the temp is about 17°

Maybe this is going to be a lucky year 😏

No question. So angry

“The Roman salute, also known as the Fascist salute, is a gesture in which the right arm is fully extended, facing forward, with palm down and fingers touching. In some versions, the arm is raised upward at an angle; in others, it is held out parallel to the ground” #Musk

The ‘Saluto romano’ that Musk just did is not a dog whistle. There have been issues in Italy recently, but they still wear balaclavas to do it. This was in broad daylight. This can’t be ignored. Worry more if the news does not call this out.

You can’t reason with Facists.

OpenAI doesn't report a single number for its climate impacts - not anywhere, in any way, shape or form.

It sounds kind of obvious but the fact that a company with such incredible electricity hunger isn't disclosing basic information about its energy consumption and associated emissions is v bad..

What are we DOING here? We're just meant to sit and act like this insane plagiarism and climate threat that requires more money than anything has ever cost is worth it? Are we meant to pretend that ChatGPT is worth this aimless, meaningless destruction of capital and our environment? For what?
Yeah I need way more money than anyone ever got before. I need it because my shit is difficult right now. But it's important in ways even I haven't been able to work out. OpenAI is a serious business. Help me. Please help me please my serious company is so good. Help me

Apple Intelligence isn’t great. I think it’s prejudiced against beards - getting it to generate an avatar from a photo of me (my avatar pic on here) it looks nothing like me! But it actually captures Herself really well. Bit rude

Three Christmas trees. London (Trafalgar Square), Rome (Piazza del Popolo) and New York.

I don’t want to be judgey, but is London okay? Feck me everyone could do with a lift, but that’s it?? Are times THAT bad? (Probably)

Newsletter: We're at peak AI - generative AI models have hit the wall where they won’t improve much further thanks to a lack of training data, killer apps or any kind of sustainable business model.

The results of a collapse could be catastrophic.

Jayzuz. There is a lot of news right now about a petition to call a general election. 2.4m people have ‘signed’ which apparently shows how disliked the Government is.

I’m going to be quite cruel and blunt next as BS does not allow the character length…

“Pat McFadden is set to tell a Nato meeting that the Kremlin could target British businesses and leave millions without power.”

I dunno, teenagers doing social engineering and the energy price cap is making a pretty good job of it in the meantime.
