Author of 25 NF books on cryptozoology, Lovecraft studies, pop horror, and PreColumbian Folderol (some II'll even admit to). Really more a sea serpent enthusiast than general cryptid fan. Occasionally plays an expert on TV.

A couple of little blurbs praising this book would finish the back cover.

Too bad nobody has actually read the damn thing yet.

I just had a Royal Poinciana taking down. Hated to do it, but the tree was badly placed and the roots were getting into the waterline.

Tree removal service was a ballet of efficiency. THis team never said a word, just knew what to do and when. Impressive efficiency.

I considered going out for breakfast this morning, but that would've involve putting pants on.

The struggle is real

Nothing says "you may be getting older" like tripping on a smooth flat unobstructed uncluttered surface and giving yourself a coffee bath simultaneously as you bounce off the cement

My next book is out in a few weeks and I am making a prediction.

Someone will make general statements of how it's a useful book but that the biographical appendices are probably better suited as a standalone book.

I'm not saying they're wrong or right, but rest assured, it happening.

Thanks to marketing use of AI, my pen name David Bernard is getting daily mail advising him of his medicare options (I assume that means he's 65 or older)

Today, my father-in-law got his 2nd sample issue of Conde Nast Traveler. I assume that means their primary demographic are the elderly deceased.

In hindsight, observing Mariachi and Polka sound remarkably similar was not the best thing to say in a Mexican restaurant

I can't decide what would be funnier – if the shooter turns out to be a J6 pardon or if he turns out to be trained by the IDF

Random thoughts:

Secret Service let those women get awfully close to the the Fuhrer. Only the best security for protecting the orange dung pile.

With everyone distracted by the protests, did anyone check the kitchen for irate food handlers??

What's the nutritional value of a loogie ?

I've started filling gaps in my library. Today's mail brought 2 books. First is Rupert Gould's Oddities. It's Fortean, not crypto, but I have such a high regard for his work, the omission is inexcusable

The other is Edward Rowe Snow's Supernatural Mysteries, another of his faux-folklore crapfests

Assuming it's true, I am torn between wanting a slow, painful, lingering death and a quick death with the irony of it happening on Labor Day.

My next book is bogged down by issues that you only see w small press. Editor took the mss & enlarged/changed the font to read it easier, wiping out the original formatting, such as inset block quotes. Ended up color coding text with different formatting and still have issues.

Good times.

If you have actually read Dashiell Hammett, you know Bogart's Sam Spade is closer to the author's vision of the character than William Powell's Nick Charles. In fact, I question whether anyone associated with film read The Thin Man

This position has not helped my popularity in Classic Film fandom

Publisher #1 just asked if I had a copy of the edited mss that allegedly the editor sent him weeks ago.

Publisher #2 has announced they never recovered from the last hurricane & and are shutting down.

All in all, I've had better mornings

I have no problem with talking to crowds. I have talked in front of 2000 people and the only issue was my inability to stay on topic.

Having said that, I gave working in theater, not because of the audience, but because I had burned out so badly I still can't remember lines.
