Even from a housing security pov it doesn’t seem that great tbh. I’m not sure what it’s like in the US but here it’s much easier to kick someone out for defaulting on a mortgage than for not paying rent and rent increases are capped whereas mortgages aren’t.

I’d suggest actual rent control would be a better option than getting another generation into the home equity ponzi with even worse terms tbh.

There’s no way they’re going to give people a 50 year mortgage on a fixed rate.

Like, there could’ve been a valid argument that they’re working against 15 years of inertia if they’d made even the appearance of trying to implement positive change.
