PSA for overprotective parents: if your child has access to a cell phone or iPad, the books they are borrowing from the library should be the least of your worries. When I was 12 I looked up "sex" in the dictionary. Now imagine your child using Google instead of the dictionary.

Today I received a letter from a teen library patron. The letter was so heartwarming I was crying before I got to the second paragraph. I am still completely overcome to know that my coworkers and I had such a profound impact on him. This is why I became a YA librarian.

Thank you to the strangers who loaned Frank Monto and I blankets at the Shakesqueer Midsummer Night's Dream 2 years ago. We didn't expect it to be so cold when it was practically April, and it was our first date so Frank felt too awkward to snuggle for warmth. We're celebrating 2 years tonight!

Thank you to the strangers who loaned Frank Monto and I blankets at the Shakesqueer Midsummer Night's Dream 2 years ago. We didn't expect it to be so cold when it was practically April, and it was our first date so Frank felt too awkward to snuggle for warmth. We're celebrating 2 years tonight!

I've mostly stopped shopping at Target and I never shopped at Walmart. I avoid Amazon and I live in an apartment so I can easily avoid Home Depot and Lowe's. Please don't tell me anything bad about Total Wine, Bevmo just isn't as good.

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.

Just so we are clear, the presidential executive order attempting to limit gender expression and repeal civil rights is not scientific, the information in it is not accurate, and it endangers American lives. I will not be making any changes to how I do my job at the library because of it.
