Even if you've never taken a stats class, if you've ever found the average of a data set, you've calculated a central tendency!

And if you dig a little further you can find out more about your data set using other measures of central tendency like median and mode.

To make sense of the world, we need to understand cause and effect. Like, does caring for your plants make you happy, or does being happy make you likelier to take care of your plant?

Statistics is how we get to the bottom of how those things influence or depend on each other.
