just a nice young lad in a terrible black oubliette. overwrought queenslandiana, earnest anglicanism, academic whimsy. he/him.
getting back into being a Medieval Guy for a season, mostly involves procrastinating writing my actual seminar paper by reading Le Morte D'Arthur at the bus stop

le morte d'arthur is insane in many ways but a recent personal favourite is when a knight called Garnish sees his lover in the arms of someone else and "for pure sorrow" gets a violent nosebleed (and then kills both of them, natürlich)

three years later, drinking grapefruit juice still feels like a little triumph every time

occurs to me that the key ingredient in many 'marry me' type foodstuffs is usually butter and therefore trying to woo a vegan through food puts one at a significant disadvantage. there is no particular vegan in my life, I'm just eating very good cookies that are very good because of butter

does drinking hot raro make me more or less of a Kiwi (asking for impending citizenship app.)

think I have to stop reading Australian lit that moves me deeply coz at this point I'm starting to sound histrionic. they're all beautiful & devastating, okay! they're all dense with lush descriptions of country and Country! I'm too emotionally and intellectually worn out to find better adjectives

Profoundly, weirdly moved by my discovery that the town my Oma grew up in has been a settlement since 700BC. Idk why, but it feels both significant and utterly banal that, by the time the child whose birth we soon celebrate was born, these graves had been sitting in a sunny forest for 700 years.

got a bit teary returning all my library books, especially removing my notes from the beat up old Tolkien translation of Sir Gawain. BUT on a positive (terrifying) note, I'll be back at the mighty Te Herenga Waka next year to Master the Arts at the IIML 💪😬

hahaha I don't know about the sirens, but the honking and hollering was a group of shirtless lads on a couch, with a sign saying 'you honk, we drink'
yo Wellington friends, anyone know what's up with the honking/police sirens around Willis/Ghuznee way? lots of honking, bit of hollering over the last 15 minutes or so, and just now some sirens. trying to figure out where it falls on the solidarity//potential-cooker spectrum...
