Lutheran pastor in Kentucky. CTX and CSL grad. Leaning into the best of LCMS heritage: strong commitment to sound doctrine, deep appreciation for the liturgy, and genuine concern for social and political issues concerning the poor and oppressed.
Hoping this will be Hats Off's story someday.

Christ's theme of humility and reception must always be counterbalanced with his strong resistance to evil, and likewise whatever we say about Christian men needing to be strong must be clarified: strong in Christ. #masculinity #manlychristianity #theculturewarisstupid

And honestly, that's my frustration with the LCMS. We've allowed secular politics and the "culture wars" to so influence us, I'm not sure we can honestly say we're still quia. We seem to have lost our prophetic voice, as the now-strange quote above shows.

I am not familiar with them enough to comment publicly, other than I believe they are quatenus subscribers to the Book of Concord, which is a deal-breaker for me.

I'm still theologically conservative/confessional.

same with the Utah governor "praying" the shooter was from another state or country

like, right: you were hoping we could just blame outsiders and not have to do any work on ourselves

but maybe we should do that work?

just feel like there's a part of the story we shouldn't miss

This is not some gotcha post. I'm trying to prove the depravity of a political party or something.
