While everyone else is playing #DonkeyKongBananza I'm in the mines working on my next web game. Maybe it's about monkeys riding minecarts, maybe it's not, who knows.

Video Game Preservation is important for any and all of us that love this hobby.
The #stopkillinggames group has been doing great recently, but we only have until the end of the month to get the last push done.
Help out, and go sign it if you want to see an improvement in the industry.

Been sorting out more on my next physics based game and I'm reaching a point where I'm not sure if my initial idea would actually be all that fun.
I've got more to add in yet before I think it's actually looks like my vision, but I gotta be prepared to admit it might not be good.

Here's a quick attempt to create a model based on my own kitchen.
It's just so weird. The tech can be used to make some really high quality stuff with the right equipment, but at a basic level things are odd. There are weird gaps and wobbly lines.
It's exactly the vibe I want for my next game.

Trying to learn and test out some Photogrammetry for my next game. I feel it's always had a bit of a weird "uncanny valley" vibe to it, where you can tell 3D models are created from images, but placing the textures on just seems different.

It's both grounded in reality, and alien at the same time.

Realized I should post about what I made for the #Godot Wildjam 81. This is Clef's Quest. Lady A'Capella has stolen all the kingdoms sounds. You got to use your microphone to re-record all the sounds of the world.

It's short and experimental, but hopefully has charm.

Currently Working on my submission to #godot wild jam 81 and here is my world so far for the theme of "Expedition".
I've got what I hope to be a fun little twist for the main mechanic based on one of the wildcards already implemented too.

Very much inspired a bit by Paper Mario.

Been spending some time wrangling with Blender, learning animations and what the workflow is like for exporting such things to Godot since at some point I'd like to make some 3D Character action style game.

Animations are hard.

Square Enix have started selling a life size Vivi hat and while I don't need it, I do kinda need it.

The final Benefactor is Tialeso, The Mermaid Marchioness.
Like many underwater dwellers, she is fascinated with the world above. She has a particular interest in collecting fine clothes, and fine people.
She only sets up shops on the docks so she can watch people from afar.

Our penultimate benefactor is Polma, the Witch Queen.
She is able to see the future and manipulate peoples fates.
No ordinary person can afford her services, leaving them exclusively available to only the rich and powerful.
Now her shop is selling "simple remedies" to commoners.

The next benefactor in our line up is "Ironclad" Grelman, one of the most wanted men in the country, able to fight off dozens of armed men at a time.

He no longer pillages villages any more, instead he found it more lucrative to trade arms to those same impoverished people.

Nobody knows much about Aphelion.
They communicate via telepathy and tend to obscure their body when in person.
Rumour has it that they struck upon an incredible archaeological find and found a trove of ancient artefacts that they chose to sell off for wealth and power.

Next on the list of mysterious benefactors is Launir.

He is a talented artist and will often explain his fortune is because wealthy individuals are immediately captivated when they lay eyes on his work.
He claims this shop is a way to further spread beautiful works of art.

Lilith used to be a bandit leader until the government caught up to her. Instead of executing her, they put her to work

You're pretty sure her magic shop is just a way to avoid tax. Her method of dealing with the competition is certainly unique. Diplomatic Immunity, am I right?

In Charm & Chance, your dice are used to stock different items and magical effects. These dice represent materials, labour and arcane knowledge.

Make sure to plan how you place them, as you'll only be able to place 2 dice per round before your mysterious benefactor has to help.

Avon made a killing fighting in tournaments across the country and became reknowned as "The Blade Baron of Goldcrest".

Nowadays, they are an avid collector of weaponry from across the world, and have dabbled into blacksmithing themselves, opening a store to sell magic swords.

Zaos is an old retired coot of a wizard. He spent his youth as an adventurer and made plenty of money to now fund magic academies and shops.

He has a bit of a reputation as a pyromancer and believes a fireball is a perfectly good solution to every problem.

In a few days my newest game will be complete and ready for everyone to enjoy, for free!

Charm & Chance is a short dice game about running a magical item shop. Place dice to stock inventory and fulfil customer orders, or create items for your mysterious benefactor to upgrade your shop.

I still struggle a lot with actually drawing art for my games, especially art of characters, but some of the recent pieces I've put together I'm really happy with.
Truth be told though I'm pretty much just posing characters in other programs, taking screenshots and tracing over them, adding details.
March 18, 2025 at 5:21 PM
Been working on some effects to cover / highlight the list of customer orders on screen when you fulfil an ability that let's you alter their orders in different ways.

Might be a little grainy on here compared to in game but I'm relatively happy with these effects.

Learning how to use Tweens in Godot has been a little rough but I really like the result.
It's little things like this where I find myself just playtesting the same tasks over and over but having fun seeing the results.

More mechanics have been done, with more still to do, but right now I'm in the process of improving the art and adding animations, highlights and tips.

I know the art here isn't great and isn't final, but I look back at my previous art and can see my techniques improving.
