Late to the party. This film was so incredible. It isn't easy to make a fresh horror in forest setting. Fell in love with the beautiful cinematography and the storyline creativity. I hope Shawn Linden sticks to film. Hunter Hunter 2020. #horrorsky #filmsky #shudder
Camille Sullivan demonstrates the primal scream, something that few actresses can replicate. She stands on the edge of a large lake. Clouds darken the sky. A forest is seen far in the background. Devon Sawa plays a father that is taking it upon himself to defend his family. He stalks his target in the deep forest, watching it through the scope of his rifle. He is fully immersed in vegetation and wearing hunting camouflage. A shot of a deep red sunset with dark clouds overlooking an expansive lake from the view between dark branches of trees. Gabriel Daniels plays a regional police officer that is often tied up with mundane annoyances. He drives back to HQ with a bloody animal in bed of his pickup truck.

Where would we be without 80s horror? This film is a masterwork of the horror skinflick. Kevin Tenney nailed it. Fun. Sexy. Gory. Night of the Demons 1988. #filmsky #horror
One of the flavour shots of this film is a shattered glass mirror. Each shard of glass on the ground show one of the cast members. You can guess where the camera might be from the absence of shards. In a classic 80s moment, two bored cashiers stare blankly as a beautiful woman navigate's their store. Unbeknownst to them, the woman is a distraction while they get robbed. Max doesn't stop for strangers. As the car drives off he laughs at the stranded victims of a car mishap. In this scene, I love the cheesy grin coming from actor Philip Tanzini. Throughout this film, small moments like this make it seem like the actors had a lot of enthusiasm while filming. The handsome date, Jay, can't believe his luck when one of the girls invites him to join her. Maybe he couldn't see this happening to him. He definitely can't see it happening to him in this scene where she gouges his eyes out with her thumbs.

This is my first and maybe last Stephen Cognetti film. What a missed opportunity for a fresh film about an ENTIRE TOWN that has full knowledge about a haunting. There was also a decent twist here that needed a better screenplay. Pass on it. 825 Forest Road 2025. #horror #filmsky #stephencognetti
Chuck, played by Joe Falcone, desperately struggles to find peace in his new home. Chuck is seen walking through a completely empty house, with a ray of light from the window guiding his path. Chuck's wife Maria, played by Elizabeth Vermilyea, perfected her warm persona on her seamstress live-stream show. This time, however, she does look too happy to be interviewed. Luke, played by Darin F. Earl II, does his best to help Chuck's sister Isabelle but his after-class meetup turns into an after-class freak-out. In a close face shot, Luke shows the audience every ounce of his gripping fear as he dives under a table to hide.

It won't make waves but sometimes a low budget sci-fi hits the mark. For such a limited cast and shooting location, I think this film deserves some recognition. Last Sentinel 2023. #scifi #fillmsky #taneltoom #malachismyth
All work and no play makes the crew of a water-based defensive location go crazy. Sullivan, played by Lucien Laviscount, uses his free time to relax in a chair of the radio room and ponder recent events. Large naval cannons are used to defend the water-bound naval base. The crew attempt to work out their differences in the mess hall. In the event of a military failure at the base, a large bomb is rigged to self-detonate and hopefully disable enemy fleets.

I watched Buckaroo Banzai for the first time blind. Oh my god. Nothing prepared me for a film that collected most unhinged actors in Hollywood to enact the most unintelligible screenplay I have ever seen. IT. WAS. AWESOME. #filmsky #buckaroobanzai #jonwright #markstay
Buckaroo, sporting an orange Japanese-style headband, surveys the flaming wreckage of his rocket-powered test vehicle. Doctor Lizardo, played by John Lithgow, electrocutes his own head to trigger past memories. A strange, gangly, organic space craft is seen orbiting Earth. Buckaroo's team dons protective gear (bubble wrap head bands?) to begin an analysis of an alien object.

The director of A Christmas Story and Porky's, Bob Clark, makes one of the best horror films I have ever seen. Completely overshadowed by the big slashers of its time and so underrated. Ultimately an anti-war film. Deathdream / Dead of Night 1974. #horrorsky #filmsky #bobclark
Actor Richard Backus plays Andy, a war veteran that has surprisingly returned home. Upon arrival to the family homestead, he speaks minimally and sits in a lawn chair, staring vacantly into the sky. Andy's father Charles, played by John Marley, struggles with his son's change in behaviour. Charles flees his family and looks to the local bar to drown his conflicted feelings. He drinks alone. Andy's behaviour becomes more unpredictable and strange. In his room, Andy dresses himself in a white turtleneck with bold blacked out sunglasses, as well as a pair of hideous black latex gloves. His mother stumbles into his room in shock but refuses to acknowledge her feelings and pretends like everything is normal. Andy's post-war deterioration is metaphorically symbolized by his physical decomposition into a horrific zombified creature. In the final climatic scene, he strangles his girlfriend to death in the back seat of their car then pops up to reveal his terrifying face for the first time. Andy's eyes are intensely animalistic with discoloured bloody yellow sclera and pinpoint pupils. His skin is discoloured, rotten and tight. His facial features are thinly molded to his face with bones jutting out at sharp angles. A hideous grin reveals the entire set of yellowed teeth with blood slopping from what remains of his lips. He stares at his former sister and friend with demonic purpose.

I'm am definitely aged out for Chappell Roan so the music isn't for me but she's got some David Bowie levels of creativity and style. Definitely an emblem of her generation. Incredible stuff.

The late Douglas McKeown writes a gory-fun horror film about a phallic meteorite monster. The kid gets it but everyone else gets eaten. This is a film that went all in on the practical effects. The Deadly Spawn 1983. #horrorsky #filmsky #douglasmckeown
