I share about walking, biking, great cities, & progressive politics.

I work for @sngreenways.bsky.social (Seattle's walking, biking, and streets for people nonprofit), but these are my personal opinions.

Losing Rad Power Bikes would be a big loss for Seattle and affordable, sustainable transportation. Selling family/cargo bikes for $1,300 is an amazing value for families trying to cut down on transportation costs. I hope they find funding to keep going.

My grocery store charges for paper bags, but car parking is "free" (aka priced in to everything on the shelves).

It’s pretty depressing that the only reference many Americans have to a pedestrianized market street is Disneyland.

You don't even need to look to other countries — we have examples of thriving pedestrian markets here in the USA, who happily shared their advice with us when we reached out to them

And, the fact that the New Orleans bollards were out for repairs IS cited as a major reason that terrible attack was able to happen: www.usatoday.com/story/graphi...

Seattle would be foolish not to harden areas where there are lots of people walking to keep them safe — especially in advance of FIFA

Shocked, SHOCKED that Tom Graf who penned “The zesty, bustling jumble of vendors, pedestrians, slow moving cars and delivery vehicles is what makes the Market unique and genuine” opposes bollards

The Salt & Straw next to the First & Pike plaza is finally open! Excited to see how this helps activate the pedestrian plaza year round

Today the Market Front is thriving with street food and seating. This idea could be transferred 100’ to activate Pike Place

My ballot was counted this year, but in a previous election is was rejected and I had to fix it — just took a couple of minutes. Make sure yours was counted Seattle! info.kingcounty.gov/kcelections/...

The bikes have changed over the years, but the joy of exploring the world with your kids by family-bike remains the same

You can also report bike lanes that are made hazardous by wet leaves to @seattledot.bsky.social via the Find-It-Fix-It app

Clearing a storm drain will be the most satisfying thing you do today. Use what you have where you are — I cleared one with a traffic cone and another with a sandwich board.

If you a new to 🌧️ 🚲🛴 a quick PSA: when traveling on slippery wet leaves 🍂 and especially metal plates be gradual in your turns and stops.

Tourists and locals are going to visit year round. Let’s encourage them to spend more time and money in the market by giving them a place to sit on the street.
