Thinking about bringing a weekly friendly competition over from X. Some might know it.

Sharemondays is a competition that runs every Monday. Entering a shot with #Sharemondays2025 tag, taken the previous 7 days. Judged by the previous weeks winner.

At the end of the year I produce a small book of all the winners. In it's prime it was a great community competition that brought many photographers together. Books are 100% non profit. I mentioned to someone here last week that I'd post some pictures of the Tyne Pedestrian Tunnel, so here they are. The whole thing was refurbed not so long ago but they've kept the wooden escalators which are a real highlight. I'll post those separately.

Clambering about a slippy waterfall with 10+kg of equipment on my shoulders, as I recovered from a bad back was perhaps foolhardy. But I was able to isolate an interesting section of the Buchanty Spout. The 3 boulders were irrisistable.

An early morning third instalment of my ‘Latches of Ardnamurchan’ series / side project that spawned out of my 9+ year ongoing project ‘Ardnamurchan Spirit’ and continues to be a delightful observational detour here n there.

The Latches of Ardnamurchan / A side project that spawned out of my Ardnamurchan Spirit project of the last 9+ years. Some reading research into the work of photographer and ‘accidental ethnographer’ Mary Ethel Muir Donaldson (MEMD) lead me to reading with great interest a wee sub section on the characteristic ‘mend and make do’ nature and resourcefulness of how gate latches are made and repaired on the Ardnamurchan peninsula. The subtitle section in MEM Donaldson’s book immediately drew me in and inspired a creative response within this series with my main project. It’s these chance happenings that lead one to look with intent at subjects we may walk beyond or even as photographers not even notice.
