The fact that Andor takes the baton and runs with it to make some of the best Star Wars since the original trilogy, imo, highlights that further. I'm not gonna say that's for everyone, or that Andor makes RO better after the fact, but I'll be blunt in saying without RO, we don't get Andor.

Look, I think the point of Rogue One is the tone being very different from almost every other Star Wars property because of its adherence to realism and grit, and it felt more like real people coming up against the empire. It's already better than like 60% of them on that fact alone. (1)

Right, and he had the entire concept in the hopper. It's a proof of concept of what Andor could be, also it's less about him and more about the rebellion getting something done. I get that you didn't like it, but I think a fair amount of that is just enjoying being a dick about it.

Because it gives you more time in THEIR world and lets you understand characters that are in Rogue One so you kinda understand why they made these choices, and why things are happening. You know, context?
Is the movie perfect? No, but I think it's better than you're suggesting, and Andor helps.
