Let's wander through the #content and enjoy ourselves.
I just hate the idea of missing the value for the numbers. I went for 50 a few years ago just for the hell of it, reached the goal, felt good about it... but just didn't quite absorb the books like I ordinarily would.
But yeah. To each their own.

There’s also a difference between “it CAN be read alone” & “it’s just as impactful alone.”
The former isn’t uncommon. The latter…

If so, I feel like they’re missing… what a series is.
I think it’s fine/great if they work as soli stories, but to say they “should” is a lot. The whole point is to build.
I also wonder who this really affects. Like who’s picking up The Two Towers as a starting point?

The Santa Clause 2 (good until 3rd act); Die Hard (enjoy it but the Xmas-movie-or-not discourse is deeply annoying); Klaus (I need to rewatch); Miracle on 34th Street (quaint, good, been a while).
Don’t care for A Christmas Story, but that’s just me.

I guess I already called it a perfect movie.
My top 2 are pretty close. But Home Alone is such a singular, unusual achievement; it just stands out.
Feels like we don’t get to know characters like this in films anymore. Such a special movie to hang out with for that reason.

I grew up on it. It’s perfect. One of the purest Xmas films.
What I love now is that it’s very self-aware about its own cheesiness. There’s plenty of humor for adults.
That’s not always easy to pull off, but it makes for a great blend of nostalgic Xmas stuff & legit comedy.

Is it a shot-for-shot remake of the 1st one? Kinda. But is the 1st one a perfect holiday movie? Yes. So… I’m good w/ more of the same in a new setting.
Throw in the legit power of Xmas in Manhattan, and you just gotta love it (despite the one unfortunate cameo).
