Yeah. Im not saying it's awesome, but I think social media has made us lose focus on our real-life connections that have the ability to make far more meaningful change that lasts, rather than wasting energy on strangers and ultimately feeling worse about the world.

It's funny because people are overestimating the impact they have on people's beliefs and actions when they are engaging with social media. Nobody is changing anyone's mind, you are only pushing the algorithm to promote posts that make people angry by engaging with them.

Yeah and social media is totally the way to get people to stop abusing. Lol

Harmful content has become more prevalent because the ragebait drives engagement from randos. I think it can be argued that we would see less of that content if people didn't engage with it so the algorithm does't see the point in pushing it.
