Melissa Hortman, who was assassinated last night, was the Speaker of the Minnesota House in the 2023-2024 session, when Democrats ran the state government.

That means she had a leading role in shepherding the many landmark reforms that Dems adopted in that period—an important legacy. Brief 🧵.

Especially today, of all days, I am not answering the doorbell for a man ignoring my ‘No Soliciting’ sign.

Our access to COVID vaccines is under attack. It’s more important than ever to make our voices heard by making public comment to the FDA by May 23 at 11:59 PM EST. Use our template available on our substack at peoplescdc.substack.com/p/vaccine-ac...

Just a friendly reminder that our current Covid vaccines do not meaningfully prevent infection or transmission of Covid. Misleading the public about this fact led to massive distrust about vaccines and record vaccine hesitancy. It's SO crucial to make ppl aware of this fact to fight vax hesitancy

Call me basic, but I enjoy the J'Adore line, and today my #SOTD is J'adore D'eau. This alcohol-free flanker has milky white juice and smells like a rich lady's shampoo or body lotion. It's green balanced with florals. Entirely inoffensive. I love it. #FragranceSky #PerfumeSky

Catching Covid at the end of the summer brought our biking season to a sad & abrupt end. It was a huge bummer. Today we got back out there, biking under the bright blue sky, among the bluebells, on a perfect spring day. It totally filled my cup. 💙🤍💙🤍

This world is worse than you think when a white woman can call a 5-year-old autistic child a racial slur and then raise over $300k from other bigots and white nationalists for the purpose of "protecting her family" on a Christian version of GoFundMe.

My #SOTD is for the lilac lovers. This stunner smells like sticking your head in a lilac bush on a blue-skied spring day. A true lilac. It is so, so good. #PerfumeSky #FragranceSky #Perfume

New York mask ban update: Our advocacy efforts are working!

Gov Hochul is failing at convincing lawmakers to include a proposal that criminalizes masking in the budget, and some legislative officials predict it will be dropped from budget talks as negotiations drag on.

Keep calling your electeds!

Oh my, my sample #SOTD made me queasy unfortunately. I wanted to love this. I SHOULD love this, but I don't. It is beautiful. Very solar, warm, & summery. Like eating an ice cream cone on a beach. Reminds me of something I had from BBW in the early aughts, name escapes me. #PerfumeSky #FragranceSky

Hey so this sucks!!!! Spread the word.
Panda Express becomes the latest business to ban masks for employees, insisting that being able to see facial expressions is necessary for team building.

This is ableist & discriminatory. Employees have to apply to be allowed to mask, putting an undue burden on disabled staff.

Those of us who refused to adopt the back to normal Covid denial narrative are used to witnessing mental gymnastics by folks who need to believe the pandemic is over

The US Covid website is peak denial

It’s a bioweapon but it’s also mild? It was manufactured in a lab but we can get it over & over?

My #SOTD fits so well on this chilly, gloomy spring day. There is a version of me who would've hated this at one point, but I'm finding it so enjoyable today. All notes listed I've detected at one point. If you enjoy a powdery scent, this slept on PdM is worth a try. Sophistication in a bottle.

They didn’t say I’d be managing airborne transmission, collapsed institutions, and mass delusion before my morning coffee.

Trying out this newer release from Guerlain for my #SOTD. It's a more mature rose that's fresh & ozonic for summertime. It's giving rose stems and leaves, some mint, and mosses. I like it, but don't love it.
