We will never forget the first responders in New York and Washington who risked their lives and ran toward danger. We will never forget the heroes of Flight 93 who stood up to hijackers. 24 years later, we still mourn those lost and find strength in all who help others.

There are moments that require absolute moral clarity and principled application of the rule of law. This is that moment, I too dissent.

The Supreme Court’s decision to limit the ability of judges to stop unconstitutional orders will cause irreparable harm.

Today HJR5 passed the House unanimously. This resolution recognizes the life of Fred T. Korematsu, who selflessly fought against the injustice of Executive Order 9066, which authorized the internment of people of Japanese descent in the United States.

Tonight SB1738 passed the House unanimously and will soon head to the Governor! This bill updates the personal property exemption amounts regarding consumer debt judgment, bringing outdated exemption limits in line with current dollar evaluations. #twill

Today, we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his courageous advocacy of equality, fairness, and peace throughout the United States. Dr. King’s fight for justice and the impact that he made on the Civil Rights Movement will never be forgotten.

I am honored and humbled that the voters of Illinois’ 17th State House District have again and trusted me to represent our community in Springfield.
