Gen Xers coming of age in the 80s were inundated with messaging like this Enjoli ad - the empowered woman who could 'do it all': work & bring home the money, be a dutiful mother, cook and clean and be a seductive sex object for her man. The expectations for women were bonkers.

Just finished 'The Goldfinch' by #DonnaTartt on my path to read all books by women authors of the Pulitzer Prize. What an incredible gift she has for narrative literary fiction! Have y'all read it #booksky? Anything else of hers?

This year, I’d like to read each of the 33 Pulitzer Prize winning novels authored by women since the prize was first awarded in 1918. Some will be re-reads. I think I'll start with Edith Wharton's The Age of Innocence. #booksky#books 📚💙

Masterpiece. Just re-read after 20 years & it's every bit as powerful and fierce as I remembered. The characters, narrative, and details of daily life are so rich, all while illuminating the revolting legacy of white colonialism in the Congo. Barbara Kingsolver is an incredible storyteller. 📚💙
