Gen X and Millenials really need to stop remaking films they thought were cool when they watched them on grainy VHS or heavily edited late night movie slots in the 1990s that if they had watched them in theaters they’d have been like “Why did we leave the house for this?”

In 1987 a film opening with “the United States has become a fascist dictatorship” was somewhat fun to watch because to the entire world that premise alone seemed unimaginable. In 2025 I can just turn on the news to watch an actual reality show host cosplay as dictator.

Flip side: many employers do make significant mistakes in the firing process but you’ll never hear about those because they are settled out of court with non disclosure agreements.

Very few things are federal but state based. In my state, lunch breaks (though universally a thing) are at the discretion of the employer. And while there is some stuff employers have to make sure they document - yes, my boss or any of their superiors can technically fire me because it’s Thursday.
