This is the key, to me. Once you give someone this kind of power over you that nobody knows about and that they could exercise in secret, you can’t report on them.
if you have placed yourself in a position where a principal actor in the story you are covering can leverage intimate photographs of you to prevent you from, say, reporting newsworthy and true information about them, you have what we in the biz call a conflict of interest
