On this day 249 years ago, the 13 American colonies voted to declare independence from Great Britain. No monarchies, they said. No crowns. No thrones.

It was the original “no kings” day.

Kinda our job to read the bill. Small wonder GOP leadership wanted to jam this through the House.

Sen. Joni Ernst‬⁩: I’m glad you want more people to know Jesus. I do too.

He fed the hungry and healed the sick. He wants us to experience abundant life. The reconciliation bill you’re defending does the opposite.

“The fact that President Trump chose to use a Memorial Day post to literally call judges monsters is … almost so extreme and outlandish that you would think that this would be something that’s happening in a made-for-TV series about a president gone wild.”

The more we learn about this reconciliation bill, the worse it gets.

The fact that this is being so rushed tells you all you need to know.

Impacts of Trump’s “Big Bill”from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO):

The bottom 10% of Americans see their income REDUCED by 4%

While the top 10% see an INCREASE of 2%.

It’s reverse Robin Hood- take from the poor to give to the rich.

Still here in House Rules- to deliver a commonsense amendment on healthcare work requirements.

They started work at 1am, I arrived at around 4am. I’ll hang around however long it takes.

Are there any Republicans on the committee willing to join me?

Waiting in the House Rules committee to propose a common sense amendment: if Congress is going to implement work requirements for Medicaid, we should also establish a program that connects people to the jobs they will be required to have.

House Republicans are pushing legislation, under the cover of darkness, that strips millions of Americans of their health coverage and takes food away from hungry kids — while growing the national debt 💸 by trillions.

Why? To fund tax breaks for the ultra wealthy.

Today, I stood with thousands of Marylanders to say “hands off!” to Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and extreme Republicans. We are reclaiming our rights, our dignity, and our democracy.

Another day, and still no action to lower costs from GOP Leadership in the House. In fact, we are now taking actions projected to increase costs — and harm the environment. 💰🍃

The Office of Budget and Management has issued a new memo rescinding the sweeping, harmful spending freeze proposed by the Trump administration.
