"Die Anfrage liest sich, als arbeite man bei der AfD schon an einer Feindesliste: Sie will detailliert wissen, „welche Lehrveranstaltungen (Vorlesungen, Seminare, Ringvorlesungen etc.) mit kolonialem oder postkolonialem Fokus“ in den letzten fünf Jahren angeboten wurden und sogar, „wie viele Studenten an solchen Veranstaltungen teilgenommen“ haben. ... Nach taz-Informationen hat die Anfrage an der Uni Halle für einigen Wirbel gesorgt – auch weil sie vom Rektorat an betroffene Institute zur Beantwortung weitergereicht wurde, mit einer Antwortfrist von nur vier Tagen. Für internen Unmut sorgte dabei, dass nach taz-Informationen einige Fakultäten offenbar ohne große Diskussion bereit waren, für das Ministerium proaktiv Listen zu erstellen, woraufhin eine kritische Debatte innerhalb der Mitarbeiterschaft entstand. Letztlich entschied die Uni sich dafür, keine Listen zu erstellen und auf die Wissenschaftsfreiheit zu verweisen."

No ERC grant for Bacon, Hobbes, Spinoza or Leibniz: "I wouldn’t say that Bacon –with his heavy reliance on taxonomies-- is comparable to Descartes in his modernity. As for Spinoza, he is heavily indebted to Descartes (and Hobbes) and so is already once-removed as a leading modernizer. Leibniz goes to some trouble to rehabilitate substantial forms in a modern philosophy. So his break from scholasticism is less than clean. In his natural philosophy Hobbes is by his own admission heavily indebted to Gallileo, Gassendi and others. So: less groundbreaking than Descartes." Tom Sorell

It's certainly inadequate, but I always read your distinction as a version of reformulating the analytic-continental distinction. Finton Mallory is more subtle, but his sample of authors kinda seem to corroborate that intuition:
