NSF GRFP solicitation has finally been posted, with the inexplicable change that 2nd year PhD students are no longer eligible! This will be devastating news to many, but also means current 1st years should start their applications for the new Nov 10th deadlines.

Given the recent push to eliminate ‘DEI’ funding initiatives from the NIH, we should be reminded of several pieces of evidence showing that diverse teams of researchers outperform homogenous groups and that ‘DEI’ is an essential element of US competitiveness. Here’s some evidence-based studies:
