The way is not to fuss obsessively about how students might be cheating with AI. The way is through meaningful and empowering engagement with ideas, showing how a life of the mind is empowering in nearly everything we do. Politics not rooted in compassion corrupts an ethical life.

Can we all stop pretending that Republicans care about debt? Their Big Budget Bomb bill will add 5 trillion in debt over the next decade--all to give tax breaks to those who least need them.

Like with a lot of people here, David Lynch changed my life. It was Season 3, episode 8 of Twin Peaks that did it for me. The scene with The Giant and the Trinity Bomb test opened up something in me and filled me with joy and elation. The way it explained everything so gravely and beautifully.
