Remember when Trump pumped up stocks with news that he’d buy the companies and never did? He got a slap in the hand back then too even though it was market manipulation. He knows what he’s doing.

The U.S. Department of Justice, at the request of the Federal Trade Commission, filed a civil suit alleging that Trump failed to file the necessary notifications before acquiring substantial stock in Holiday Corporation and Bally Manufacturing Corporation through Bear Stearns & Co. These acquisitions exceeded the threshold that mandate prior disclosure to antitrust authorities. Trump agreed to settle the charges by paying the civil penalty, without admitting any wrongdoing.
