YouTube runs awful AI Slop ads. Look at Prime Minister @mark-carney.bsky.social 's hand! I've flagged these ads a number of times and YouTube refuses to do anything about them.

We had a visitor at Twillingate lighthouse lookout who stopped by to say hi.

Whoever manages advertising at Google allows bald faced lying on YouTube with doctored or AI generated images and video of political figures and tv personalities.

I've discovered the perfect writing implement for compact cassette winding. It *is not* a Bic Crystal. It is the Uniball Jetstream retractable ball point pen. 1/3 #uniball #jetstream #cassetteculture

See the irony here? Meta and other tech bro driven AI crazed companies don't get it.

The thing I dislike most about IT and tech in general is more complexity as the solution to most problems, while recreating its tools and systems unnecessarily. It's a result of the complexiphilia that most in tech tend to have.

A very smoky sunset from Bauline this evening. Cropped in you can really see the southern front of the Kingston fire. @eddiesheerr.bsky.social #nlwx

Solar can absolutely work in Newfoundland! On the beautiful resettled Exploits Islands, only accessible by boat, I saw at least six cottages/houses that were completely off grid. They had big screen TVs, clothes washers and dryers, dish washers, on demand hot water and internet. #nlwx

The temperatures on Exploits Islands in Notre Dame Bay were BRUTAL a few days ago. 34°C and zero wind. I'd never thought I'd experience a day like that out there. #nlwx

My (and my friend's) allergies are the worst they've been in years, yet pollen reports are consistently low. What's going on? #nlwx #yyt

Audiophiles repeat the mantra "Analog vinyl is the most true to audio and is sonically transparent!" While ignoring the 10 dB rolloff above 13 kHz, and the crackle of dust that cannot be eliminated completely.

Much larger hail this time at 12:30 NDT

2-6 mm!

Hail in the Mundy Pond around 11:20 too! It was easily the heaviest I've witnessed here in years.

My feed is overwhelmed by American politics. I followed a lot of Americans back in the day when Twitter was all about their cool projects, hobbies, works or professions. Adding these keywords to my mute list makes my feed much more enjoyable and somewhat more Canadian focused.

Stinging nettles is a fixture of Notre Dame Bay. This is Probably the biggest field of "stinger needles" I've ever seen, by Woolfrey's Pond, Lewisporte. It went off the left out of frame. It has to be a couple acres or more. #nlwx
June 22, 2025 at 12:51 PM
Some lush out Lewisporte way. Forests in that area seem greener with more broadleaf trees than back in the 80s growing up. #nlwx

It doesn't bode well for the summer given this and the temperature anomaly chart for June. #nkwx

I still don't entirely understand why we switched to much less capacious bike packing bags from panniers. #bikepacking
