It's a very interesting class of issues because it's a natural result of the essential optimization of only updating entities when they need updating. You can sometimes see similar things in business logic for like, finance and the like.

I've seen this issue in games like Minecraft, too, where sand that should've fallen doesn't fall until you change a block next to it, causing a cascading set of block-fall checks.

Technically "semi erect" not floppy but close enough they bend over that's what matters.
