I'm not a climate scientist, but doesn't the phys.org article in particular suggest that the optimistic models aren't accurate?

If something worries you about this initaitive, chances are it's already been answered. There is also a Discord server where you can ask more questions. The list of dead games is already very long, and it doesn't have to be this way.

This initiative does not mean that game developers have to support their game indefinitely. Hardware changes over time, operating systems change, all kinds of things change that you can't possibly predict. Which is why this initiative is about how to end support for a game in a responsible manner.
