Today’s lesson: the power of a handwritten word. My students made holiday cards, learning that their words can reach out and brighten someone’s entire day.

Our cheeky elf, Ginger Snap, is back at it! We arrived to find she’d helped herself to Mr. Monck’s breakfast. #elf

Today, we turned math class into a construction zone! Students used geometry and measurement skills to build gingerbread houses. Nothing beats hands-on learning to cement those concepts. Future master builders in the making! #onted #math

Our elf ginger snap played a sweet trick yesterday and today! We sprinkled sugar onto some crackers, waited 24h and — ta-da — elf cookies! #HolidayFun

We’re designing gingerbread houses to fit on a cookie sheet. We need to determine how many square cm we can use for the house to maximize the area, given the cookie sheet’s size. #math

Our elf Gingersnap shared her countdown calendar with the class today. A very festive gesture… minus the one chocolate she sneakily claimed for herself!

We had a wonderfully productive #snowday! This morning, a guest teacher led English Language Fluency and some addition/subtraction revision. This afternoon, we switched to Reader's Theatre and French Language Fluency. A full and fantastic day of learning!

Using a mix of pencil lines and marker shapes to create this year's holiday card to accompany our holiday letter. Finding joy in the handmade, the imperfect, and the heartfelt connection.

Turning geometric nets into physical models is the best way to study math. Hands-on learning builds passion. Can't wait to build on this foundation in the coming weeks. #MathEd #onted

A beautiful snow day at East Ridge #Bluewater!

Students have been busy: Writing French letters to a friend or family member, reviewing subtraction with regrouping and practicing dictation words

So proud of their focus on a cozy, snowy day!

Today's French class was pure fun.
We recounted the tale of a bear who is the guardian of the moon. The level of engagement and creative expression for this oral activity was incredible. Stories truly bring a language to life!

Identifying 3D shapes and building the vocabulary to describe them. Loved seeing the collaborative problem-solving in action today! #MathIsEverywhere #Teamwork

How did our country begin? We're exploring the 1700s & 1800s to find out. By developing precise vocabulary and using it in discussion, students are building a deeper appreciation for the people and events that started it all. #InquiryLearning

The best kind of math! Getting hands-on with shapes to see how they work. Discovering that a trapezoid has only one pair of parallel sides while a parallelogram has two is a huge geometric insight.

Last month we explored #biodiversity and the vital roles plants and animals play in an ecosystem. Every creature, big and small, has an important job to do! 🌿🐞 #Science #Ecosystems
