We urge EU co-legislators to ensure:
✅ Risk assessment, labelling & traceability for all #NGTs
✅ Protection of farmers’ & breeders’ #SeedRights
✅ Policies that prioritise diversity, resilience & long-term food security
👇Europe needs transparency, precaution & fairness🌱

It is the @eppgroup.bsky.social rapporteur who doesn't want to advocate for Parliament's position in the negotiations. So far Council hasn't given anything to the @europarl.europa.eu at all. No labelling, no transparency, no breeders or farmers' rights on patents.

Wonder how a technology like new GMOs controlled via patents by the biggest pesticide corporations can be called sustainable

Yes, without labelling along the entire food chain, the right to decide what to grow and what to eat will be lost. Keep new GMOs labelled! Renew: please stand up for the European Parliament position on labelling.

Indeed, EU plant breeders & farmers face a framework on intellectual property rights that stifles innovation & harms biodiversity, especially w/increase of patented NGT plants.

On #NGTs we urge you to not sacrifice freedom of choice - both for consumers and for all business operators - for sustainability. Everyone has the right to know what’s in their food. #ICHOOSEGMOFREE

True! And not only consumers are worried, business are too! Last summer, 376 businesses from the European food industry signed a letter calling for rigorous #NGTs labelling in 🇪🇺. Learn more about the industry's concerns 📑👉 www.organicseurope.bio/news/europea...

Indeed, farmers reject the EU-Mercosur agreement and the unfair competition it will bring to farmers in the EU and in Mercosur countries! But farmers also oppose the proposal to deregulate new genomic techniques, which want to impose patented GMOs without any traceability and labeling

This proposal is incompatible with farmers' rights on seeds, and would simply legalize biopiracy by allowing the extension of the scope of patents to native seeds. This will only benefit to patent-holding multinationals, at the expense of European farmers, small seed breeders and agrobiodiversity

It is crucial to guarantee on-package labeling throughout the entire supply chain, from the field to the plate. The Parliament must not give up on labeling and traceability in the current #NGT negotiations. Support breeders, farmers, producers and consumers in their right to choose! #IChooseGMOFree

In addition, farmers are facing more problems: Scrapping safety rules for NGT crops will cause a flood of patented crops, harming farmers and benefiting a few big biotech corporations. #Nopatentonseeds
Dear Mr Canfin, as Shadow, will you strongly defend the EP position to opposing patents on crops?

Indeed unwanted contamination will rapidly and repeatedly occur and it will be not reversible. As a geneticist and organic farmer, but more so as a mother feeding her children I cannot understand how this is not alarming and how it is not a political priority.

Dear Mr Canfin, please don’t bargain labelling of new GMOs for alleged sustainability. Our nature is in crisis and needs better from you.
New GMOs are part of a highly industrialised farming system and should not get any incentives by being falsely labeled as sustainable crops
