As a US citizen you have an absolute right to be let back in to your own country, no matter how they might take issue with your name. Worth checking carefully what the deal is before deciding, seeing if contingency preparations are plausible, etc.

Your point about lowering their OW% is worth highlighting! I actually hadn't realized that there's an interaction between seed and OW%, though I probably should have, given how much I've thought about Swiss tiebreaker methods over the past few months...

Now, even if you assume an optimal "LI seeding" method, you still have some "seed error", but it's a tradeoff between that and how much effort it takes. I think the LI system without "mistakes" should still achieve *most* of the goals you note? But I'm curious what you think there.

Yeah, those were pretty big whiffs in the seeding process. It doesn't necessarily implicate the way we do LI seeding *ideally*, because I think we just missed something obvious in both those cases and should have assigned them to a much higher "band."
