Yes. In Canada, we allow people to access medical assistance in dying. It involves a series of vetting interviews and is not simply 'allowed' willy nilly. Many with terminal conditions like cancer are indeed accessing it, in order to exercise some control over their death.

That said, MAiD has ethical concerns, especially regarding disability & poverty. But comparing it to Trump’s policies, which target marginalized groups without their consent, is misleading. If you're against injustice, be consistent—call out all abuses. #EugenicsConcerns #HumanRights

The correct argument is: there is a very good chance *you* will die a painful, drawn-out death, with no control over the time or manner of your departure, in the absence of medical assistance in dying.

The terrifying part in Canada is MAIDS. Medical Assistance In Dying Services. I've seen more people use them here because it's too costly for the medical care they need to live, or struggling with depression so bad that death is preferred because there are ZERO supports.
