Just a reminder that Newsom’s silly tweets mocking DJT writing style are doing numbers because they answer the question: “who will protect me from a malicious and vengeful president?” Not because of their writing style.

Heard friends rave about Claude code. It’s super powerful, but here’s my critique: The “chat” interface is limiting.

There is a lot it can just do with one-shot or with realignment. But when it fails, you have to fall back to traditional editing methods. Chat won’t always work.

Reposting this, but just imagine I edit all the left columns to "how did Mamdani win the NYC Mayoral Primary?"
I guess it will remain a mystery

The most common mistake I see when trying to make design patterns for LLM applications: treating agents as something fundamental. Quit reifying agents! It’s agentic tasks that are fundamental.

Content curation is work that is not directly compensated-for on social media. As a result, that work doesn’t not happen as often, or at the level of quality, that it should.

I think anyone who is a creator right now feels a tension between creating what they feel is valuable (and often what they are most proud of), or creating what gets the most attention.

I started saying 2 weeks ago that this was the best strategy.

Democrats should ask reporters "have you asked Trump how he feels about being weaker than the president of El Salvador?"

Just hammer away on this incessantly because a malignant narcissist's ego cannot handle appearing weak.

Elon should come to White House press briefing and answer questions. Are folks asking for him at the press briefings?

I doubt Donald understands what’s going on well enough to be able to comment.
Elon Musk is a terrible president.

Meta’s decided to remove its fact checking process because it does not want to continue the role of policing truth on its platform.

There’s some validity to this, but so long as it manages its own feeds, it bears some responsibility for the truth of content served on those feeds.

There's quite a bit of truth in the conclusions in this 🧵, unfortunately no proposed solution(s).

I'll go first: repeal Section 230 of the Communications Act.
if you want to make it big on the
internet, the easiest way is to find things that make people mad, publish them (regardless of accuracy), and then validate their anger. the result of this has been the creation of a humanity-spanning rage machine where every possible source of anger is being mined

one of the reasons I feel confident it’s social media that is microwaving everyone’s brains is that you can often sit here and watch the microwaving happen in real time: people spinning towards wild extremes in an effort to hew to the perceived consensus

See, this would pass the basic gateway test that all good political rhetoric in 2024 must meet: “Will people not being paid by Democrats organically talk about it amongst each other”
yeah, i would rather hear them say something like "these assholes want to give your government to a bunch of degenerate oligarchs who want to cut your social security and throw veterans in the streets"

there have been years of elaborate explanations about income inequality and the 2008 financial crisis and the loss of faith in institutions and the decline of industry in the rust belt and on and on, but the answer has been staring us in the face: it’s social media

do you understand that other people know what kind of ideas make you angry and upset and many of them intentionally repeat those things to earn your attention and approval

it is vitally important to understand this if you do not want to spend the rest of your life as a dupe

Introducing a thought I have: Plastic Water Bottles.

A “Plastic Water Bottle” is what I call any problem that we see as super evil despite the fact that there is an extremely similar bigger problem (plastic soda bottles) that we never think about only because we’re simply more used to it.
